Terrarium Watering Tips

Proper watering is essential for maintaining the health of your succulent terrariums and cactus gardens. Excessive watering can harm your plants by causing water to accumulate at the roots, leading to root rot. To prevent this, we carefully design our terrariums with drainage rocks and pebbles at the bottom, which help to drain excess water.

Watering Schedule

Follow these general guidelines for watering your terrarium:

  • Once a week in summer

  • Once a month in winter

  • Twice a month in autumn and spring

These are average watering frequencies; however, it’s important to assess the moisture level of the soil to determine when to water. If the soil feels moist to the touch, your terrarium does not require watering. If it feels dry, it’s time to water.

Nurturing Your Terrarium

For optimal growth, place your terrarium in a bright, well-ventilated area, away from direct heat sources such as radiators or air conditioners. Consistently monitor the soil’s moisture to avoid overwatering, ensuring your terrarium remains healthy and thriving.

Pruning Your Terrarium

Regular pruning helps maintain the aesthetic and health of your terrarium. Use small, sharp scissors to remove any dead leaves or damaged plant parts. This will keep your plants looking neat and encourage healthy growth by eliminating any decaying material.
